Employee Relations & HR Policy

 

Bernice has over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry working as a Vice President at Morgan Stanley and Dean Witter.  She previously worked in the public sector as well.  


Bernice has had responsibilities in a range of areas, including the following:

  • Established and managed an Employment Dispute Resolution Program to resolve employment disputes internally.  The program served over 40,000 U.S. employees and provided internal conciliation efforts, as well as voluntary mediation and arbitration

  • Served as a neutral third party in the investigation and resolution of internal complaints. Over 90% of the complaints were successfully resolved

  • Conducted culture surveys to discern whether employee morale issues existed and to understand the cause(s) of employee dissatisfaction

  • Served as internal consultant to managers on employee relations and performance management issues, while also serving as an advisor to the Employment Law Division and Human Resources staff 

  • Developed management guides on HR policies

  • Developed and updated HR policies in accordance with Federal and state employment laws

  • Developed and delivered management training programs with a combined and holistic focus on employment laws, HR policies and performance management

Bernice previously served on the New York State Governors Task Force on Sexual Harassment.  

Bernice has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the City College of New York and also attended Boston College School of Law.
