Roger Harrison

Learning and Organizational Development 

 

Roger has over 25 years experience within the UK’s financial services sector.

Following a period of Branch Management at The Leeds Permanent Building Society, Roger moved to their Head Office as the Manager of the Retail Operations Training function. This was at a time of major change, rapid growth and major upheaval within the financial services industry. The advent of Financial Regulation and the deregulation of Banks, combined with the rapid increase in technological innovation, meant that operating procedures and sales strategies were in constant flux requiring highly effective training strategies and programs to be developed and delivered.

As the Leeds Group Training Manager, Roger oversaw the training of the merger of the Leeds and several other companies including the merger with The Halifax Building Society (at the time the biggest Building Society in the UK).  Following the merger between the Halifax and Leeds Building Society, Roger moved into Organizational and Management Development with specific responsibility for Succession Planning of senior management.

In 2001, Roger left The Halifax (which had converted into a plc) and set up his own Learning and Development Consultancy.  Following several positions as an Interim Manager and working within several non-financial sectors, Roger eventually specialized in the management of large strategic training programs. 

Roger’s experience extends across a broad range of companies, including Bradford and Bingley Building Society, Britannic Assurance, Ove Arup International, Learn Direct, Barclays plc, Royal Liver, Zurich Financial Services and Leeds University.  Roger’s experience together with his practical knowledge of Competency Frameworks, Assessment Centers, Training Design and Management, he provides a well-rounded perspective on learning and development activities.

Roger qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers and is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Personnel and Development.
